The climatic characteristics of tropical areas generate ecological niches that contribute to the development of different species of arthropods, which in turn function as vectors of Babesia spp, Anaplasma spp and Trypanosoma spp. In Latin America, one of the most important economic sectors is the agricultural sector and one of the main risks is hemoparasitic diseases in cattle because they trigger large economic losses due to the decrease in production, expenses in veterinary treatments and high rates of morbidity and mortality. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence and risk factors associated with the presence of hemoparasites in cattle from Villavicencio, Colombia. A cross-sectional epidemiological study was carried out in 5 villages of the dual-purpose system with 1,000 animals, the diagnosis was made by blood smear with Wright's stain. Prevalence was calculated using the SAS INSTITUTE 9.0 software. Information was collected on the sanitary and environmental conditions of the properties, an analysis of the risk factors was carried out through univariate analysis using the SPSS Statistics version 20 software. A general prevalence of hemoparasites of 33.40%, Anaplasma spp 26.20%, Babesia spp. 8.40% and Trypanosoma spp. 1.30%. In the age group under 1 year, a prevalence of 33.19% was observed. Risk factors were identified as belonging to the age group older than 3 years, the Jersey breeds, the Pardo breed, contact with bovines or other animals outside the farm, and the use of ivermectin. The Angus breed was identified as protective factors
