The Caucho Sabanero is considered the flagship tree of Bogotá for 30 years (Valverde 2016). This is an important component of the urban woodland with more than 20,000 specimens planted within the district area, and due to its abundance and biotic interactions with other organisms, it is believed to be an important agent in urban and social ecosystem dynamics. The taxonomic problem of the Andean Ficus species, and also that of the identity of the Caucho Sabanero of the urban woodland is an issue that has not been directly addressed by any research. In addition to answering scientific questions, this project has a strong implication on the field of environmental sciences, specifically on the management of urban trees and the ecosystemic and environmental services they provide to all citizens of Bogota. The contribution of this research to the environmental sciences lies in the generation of knowledge about the species that are part of the urban trees of the Capital District to contribute to the understanding of the ecosystem services provided by trees and shrubs such as: the regulation of the city's climate, filtering the intensity and reflection of sunlight, shade and cooling the environment by tempering the climate. However, in the descriptions of Ficus species, the sizes and dimensions of leaves, stipules and syconia are predominantly mentioned (Berg, 1989). In fact, these characters mentioned for species distinction were indeed included in the set of continuous characters used in this study, which highlights their usefulness in the analyses performed. Therefore, taking into account these dimensions, it is highly probable that the savannah rubber trees in the urban woodland do indeed belong to the candidate species F. andicola according to their morphology. Such is the similarity index between these three species (>0.997) that it could be affirmed that morphologically they are indistinguishable. Taking into account the continuous morphological characters only, it was found that the species of urban 8 trees in Bogotá correspond mainly to the species Ficus andicola, in contrast to what is perpetuated in the primary literature, where it is mentioned as Ficus soatensis (var. bogotensis).
