Matemal mortality is a public health problem, with these deaths the result of biopsychosocial factors that pregnant women are exposed, in addition to the various problems conceming
the accessibility and quality of health services for this reason these deaths are considered as indicators of quality care health services and environmental conditions since most
are preventable.
We analyzed several clinical and biopsychosocial determinants of maternal deaths in the Boyacá department during the years 2007 and 2008. The method used for the analysis was the collection of information through the medical history the date of notification of the
INS, Death Certificates and Visit the Country format with which to analyze each case.
The results showed that the main cause of matemal death from medical conditions cas are
hypertensive disorders, followed by bleeding disorders, and third or indirect causes that a¡e
not associated with pregnancy. As the biopsychosocial factors found that most were deficient in antenatal checks such, low education, were unmarried, non-use planning methods and the majority belonged to the subsidized regime.
