Obstrucción uretral felina por urolitiasis vesical

Abstract

El día 01 de Junio 2021 un gato con obesidad llega al centro veterinario Vetcare ubicado en el barrio Ingenio de la ciudad de Cali e ingresa a consulta de urgencia debido a que tiene 24 horas orinando en gotas. La propietaria informa que ha notado que el gato va al arenero y su micción es anormal, orina en gotas, a veces con sangre, se acicala constantemente y maúlla exageradamente. Al realizar el examen clínico el paciente presentó una respiración más costal que abdominal y cambios anormales en el sistema genito – urinario como vejiga pletórica, aumento de la sensibilidad y la mucosa del pene congestionada, entre otros. Se procedieron a realizar exámenes complementarios como ecografía, hemograma, química sanguínea, llegando al diagnóstico definitivo de Obstrucción uretral por urolitiasis vesical. El tratamiento instaurado fue de una retropulsión uretral seguido de una cistotomía y medicamentos para combatir el dolor e inflamación en casa, así como vitaminas para la prevención de la reaparición de los urolitos. On June 1, 2021, an obese cat arrives at the Vetcare veterinary center located in the Ingenio neighborhood of the city of Cali and enters an emergency consultation because it has 24 hours urinating in drops. The owner reports that she has noticed that the cat goes to the litter box and its urination is abnormal, it urinates in drops, sometimes with blood, it is constantly grooming itself and it meows exaggeratedly. When performing the clinical examination, the patient presented breathing more costal than abdominal and abnormal changes in the urinary system such as a full bladder, increased sensitivity and congested penile mucosa, among others. Complementary examinations such as ultrasound, hemogram, blood chemistry were carried out, reaching the definitive diagnosis of urethral obstruction due to bladder urolithiasis. The established treatment was a urethral retropulsion followed by a cystotomy and medications to combat pain and inflammation at home, as well as vitamins to prevent the reappearance of uroliths. The evolution of the patient was excellent.
