Representaciones sociales de las mamas, mujeres mastectomizadas, feminidad y cuidado

Abstract

Introducción: La mastectomía es un proceso en el cual se extirpan las mamas de una mujer que padece Cáncer de mama. En Colombia las cifras de este fenómeno son elevadas y así mismo genera consecuencias de carácter físico, psicológico y social, teniendo en cuenta las representaciones y el valor funcional atribuido a las mamas. Objetivo: Los objetivos de esta revisión están orientados a caracterizar la relación de las representaciones sociales de las mamas con la feminidad y el cuidado de las mujeres mastectomizadas. Método: Este trabajo es un estudio cualitativo con enfoque descriptivo, de carácter monográfico, realizado mediante una revisión temática de antecedentes investigativos, referentes teóricos y entrevistas a expertos. Discusión: se genera un análisis sobre el impacto de las representaciones sociales frente a unidades de análisis cómo creencias, estereotipos, actitudes, además de las categorías de feminidad y cuidado. Conclusiones: Las representaciones sociales de las mamas generan un impacto negativo relacionado con el capital simbólico de este órgano, afectando el autoconcepto, autoimagen, autopercepción, la feminidad y el autocuidado de las mujeres mastectomizadas.

Introduction: Mastectomy is a process in which the breasts of a woman suffering from breast cancer are removed. In Colombia the figures of this phenomenon are high and also generates physical, psychological and social consequences, taking into account the representations and functional value attributed to the breasts. Objective: The objectives of this review are to characterize the relationship of social representations of the breasts with femininity and the care of mastectomized women. Method: This work is a qualitative study with a descriptive approach, of monographic character, carried out through a thematic review of research antecedents, theoretical references and interviews with experts. Discussion: An analysis is generated about the impact of social representations in front of analysis units such as beliefs, stereotypes, attitudes, besides the categories of femininity and care. Conclusions: Social representations of the breast generate a negative impact related to the symbolic capital of this organ, affecting the self-concept, self-image, self-perception, femininity and self-care of mastectomized women.
