This monograph was made with the purpose of providing veterinarians and veterinary medicine students with current information about feline viral leukemia, in this bibliographic review topics such as the causative agent and its taxonomy, the pathophysiology and phases by which study the virus, its worldwide and national epidemiology, current diagnostic techniques such as ELISA, immunochromatography, immunofluorescence and PCR, abnormal findings to the clinical examination, paraclinical tests such as blood count, blood chemistry, imaging tests that can help us approximate diagnosis of the pathologies that are linked to the virus, additionally the different alternatives that exist for the treatment with anti-retroviral to deal with the virus and that are available for veterinary medicine were reviewed, also the different strategies that have been designed to prevent the spread of the virus in Colombia and others countrieseng
