Transmissible Venereal Tumor (TVT) of extragenital localization in canine (regional lymph nodes). Description of a clinical case

Abstract

The Transmissible Tumor of Tumor of Sticker is highly contagious in canines by direct contact, mainly through intercourse or given their socialization customs, by licking or smelling of lesion in contaminated dog. Although it is considered a benign tumor for its behavior and that basically affects the genitals of males and females, there are reports of cases of extragenital localization such as: nasal cavity mucosa, oral and conjunctival, with a metastasis rate of up to 17%, mainly to regional lymph nodes, skin, subcutaneous, nose, ear, spleen, kidney, liver, lung, tonsils, eyeball, perianal region, pharynx, brain, ovaries, and in males, regional and iliac lymph nodes, scrotum and area perineal We report the case of a mestizo male canine of approximately three years who presented TVT on the glans and was treated with Vincristine Sulphate, with the disappearance of the mass. Subsequently there are nodulations at the inguinal level, dorsal to the penis, of large size and semi-soft consistency, corresponding to the superficial inguinal ganglia, so it is decided to remove them for histopathological study and the castration of the dog to avoid recidivism. Tests are performed such as blood count, biochemical profile and uroanalysis in order to know the general physiological state of the animal and accordingly define the treatment. Histopathology first confirms TVT with metastasis to superficial inguinal lymph nodes, which is then certified by immunohistochemical test.
