Criterios aplicados y riesgos asociados a la manipulación de animales silvestres durante muestreos biológicos

Abstract

Historically, animáis have been seen within the context that surrounds the hum an benefit ¡ncluding food, commerce, entertainment, education and companionship, which has entailed to the development and implementation of special considerations for their treatment. At the present institutions with programs in reseach and protection of wild species have directed their perspective towards the conservation of threatened or endangered species, as one of their more important functions, applying a considerable emphasis in the development of suitable handling techniques that take into account the well-being of the animáis. During capture and restriction of an animal with the objective to obtain a certain sample, several aspects must be considered which involve not only the procedures, but also analyze other criteria that allow to obtain the samples easily and guarantee the integrity of the animal and the personnel in charge of following the procedures. The taking of samples implies specific methods.stricktly to be followed, to guarantee that they are carried out in a suitable form and. The samples must be representative to conduct all the anticipated analyses, be in optimal conditions that facilítate the record of the variables under study and the interpretaron of the findings. The basic conditions to conduct samplings preferably must inelude, among others, the valuation of the population s surroundings and the integrity of the individuáis, as well as an suitable protocol of work that allows to reduce the human impact.

Históricamente los animales han sido vistos dentro del contexto que envuelve el beneficio humano que abarca las necesidades de alimentación, de comercio, de entretenimiento, de educación y de compañía, lo cual ha conllevado al desarrollo e implementación de consideraciones especiales para su trato. Actualmente las instituciones que adelantan programas para la investigación y la protección de especies silvestres tienen entre sus funciones más relevantes la conservación de especies amenazadas o en peligro, desarrollando para ello técnicas adecuadas de manejo que favorecen el bienestar de los animales. Durante los episodios que envuelven la captura y la restricción de un espécimen con el objetivo de obtener una muestra determinada, deben tenerse en cuenta varios aspectos que involucran no solo los procedimientos a realizar si no también deben estudiarse otros criterios que permitan obtener fácilmente la muestra y garantizar la integridad del animal y del personal a cargo de realizar los procedimientos. Para la toma de muestras se siguen metodologías especificas en forma estricta para garantizar que se lleve a cabo adecuadamente y que además, sean representativas para realizar todos los análisis previstos y se encuentren en condiciones óptimas que faciliten el registro de las variables bajo estudio y la interpretación de los hallazgos. Las condiciones básicas para realizar muéstreos preferiblemente deben incluir entre otros la valoración del entorno poblacional y la integridad de los individuos, así como un protocolo adecuado de trabajo que permita reducir el impacto antropogénico.
