Uso de hábitat de la avifauna en el humedal Guaymaral (Cundinamarca, Colombia)

Abstract

At the present time the wetland system at the Sabana de Bogotá (Colombia) ineludes only remaining fragments. One of them, the Guaymaral wetland at the northern border of the city, is also affected by pollution, water drainage and filling for urban and agricultural purposes. Observations of the avifauna were done during one year including the register of activities such as foraging, resting, singing and cleaning at the western, eastern northern and southem zone of the wetland. Characterization of the vegetation was made additionally for each zone. 21 families of birds distributed in eleven orders and 49 species were identified. The analysis of the activity data in relationship with the vegetation at each zone showed higher habitat use at the western part. Foraging at the western and northern part of the wetland has shown higher mean valúes with statistical differences. The use of stratified vegetation was also important at the eastern and northern zone, even the relative abundance of the plants is determinant for habitat use expressed in terms of the analyzed activities.

El sistema de humedales de la Sabana de Bogotá (Colombia) presenta actualmente un alto grado de fragmentación. Uno de ellos es el Humedal de Guaymaral, ubicado en el borde norte de la ciudad, afectado por la alta contaminación, la desecación y los rellenos con fines urbanísticos y agropecuarios. Durante un año, se llevó a cabo el conteo y el registro de actividades, incluyendo forrajeo, desplazamiento, descanso, canto y aseo de la avifauna del humedal en cuatro zonas llamadas oriental, occidental, norte y sur. Para cada zona, se realizó adicionalmente la caracterización de la vegetación. Durante el estudio, se registraron 21 familias de aves distribuidas en once órdenes y 49 especies. Al relacionar la vegetación por sector con los registros de actividad, la zona occidental presentó los mayores promedios de uso de hábitat. El forrajeo en las zonas occidente y norte mostró los mayores promedios con diferencias estadísticamente significativas. Se destaca el uso de la vegetación por estratos para desarrollar las actividades analizadas, aún cuando en las zonas oriental y norte la abundancia relativa de las plantas es determinante para el uso de hábitat expresado en términos de las actividades seleccionadas.
