Dormancy presented by the bulbs (Lilium sp) is an obstacle for quick and homogeneous propagation of this species in the tropics. The tecnology employed for the breakage in températe zones is not always the most adequate one for the tropic, since the repose management, the coid treatment and the storage of the bulbs in special ambits is costty and not always avaitable to small producers. Exogenous sprayers of vegetal hormones ofter an alternative to resolve this problem. It has been found that giberelines and ethylene can substitute the coid treatment, being the objetive of this research to these hormones, seeking to accelerate budding and aftaiment of floral stems of good comercial characterics. The trial was carried out under roof, using the yellow colored material amply planted in the Sabana de Bogotá. The following variables were evaluated; % brotation, days to brotation, days to flowering, floral stem length and flower Iife. Applications of gibbereline showes the best effect for latency breakage and brotation acceleration, though no difference with the commercial check was found. Ethylene showed no positive effect on neither variable. In relation to flower production and quality, negative effects were detected, since during the evaluation period no flower differentation occured; however new bulb proliferation was obtained, which suggesis that application could serve to induce a mayor quantity of asexual seeds.
