Lamprea Delgado, Alvaro | 2004-07
The Latin-American Economy has a perspective of growth in the 2 lst century, as long as ¡t improves the compe- titiveness of its goods and Services exported towards the international markets. Furthermore it has to adjust the macroeconomic imbalances, the problems of fiscal déficit, the payment balance, the exchange rate and the external debt, among other variables to consider. The external sector will also ¡nfluence to a great extent the economic growth of the Latin-American countries, depending on its new insertion in the international trade, on the form of the development of the globalization processes and on the negotiations of the TLC and the G3 among others. Through a basket of exports of goods and Services with greater and better added valué towards the international markets and the diversification of its exports towards markets with greater dynamism like China, India and Brazil, new opportunities for Colombia and the Latin- American countries will arise and the integration processes in the región, as well as the TLC and the riAFTA, will consolídate. If this dynamism is not generated and Latín America is not inserted in the globalization to enhance its participation in the international trade through the dinamization of its exports, the región won't have a permanent economic growth that allows improvements to its economic well-being in the near future.
