Pompon crop in the Savanna of Bogotá is cultivated in a dynamic way due to the characteristics of the species and the different handling methods. However the strong pressure to díminish costs and at the same time increase productivity in covered areas makes it necessary to pursue methodologies that optimize the practices. With the purpose to determine the behavior of pompon (Chrysantemum morifolium) forconfinement, substrates as oasis, peat and burned husk, the mixture oasis-peat, peat-husk and husk-oasis were evaluated. The puré substrates were used as check. A total of 16 treatments were evaluated, maintained during 14 days in the rooting area with additional light. The checks were transplanted in the production area, while the others were put in the confinement area. Both groups received light for 16 additional nights. For each treatment the number of shafts per bunch, the number of bunches and the weight of each bunch, the days to cutting and the economic utility was evaluated. A random complete block design and for each effect of comparison of means the technique of orthogonal contrasts with a level of significance of 0,05% was used. In confinement, the substrate that presented the best agronomic behavior according to the evaluated variables, was a mixture of peat 30% and husk 70%.The duration of the productive cycle of the crop was not affected by the substrates used in the confined treatments. The highest economic utility was obtained with the non confined treatments using as substrate burned husk.
