Gómez Salazar, Maira Alejandra | 2019
The antimicrobial potential of the species Achyrocline satureioides, Achyrocline bogotensis and Gnaphalium elegans was evaluated against a strain of Campylobacter jejuni belonging to the microbiology strain (GIBGA group) by means of the microdilution test in 96-well plates, in a microplate reader (BIO RAD Model 680). The total extracts were obtained by extraction against reflux; subsequently, they were fractionated by the use of organic solvents of different polarities. The results showed that polar and moderately polar fractions of G. elegans at a concentration of 0.125 mg / mL show a possible antagonistic effect against C. jejuni. Similarly, the polar and apolar fractions of A. satureioides showed a possible antimicrobial activity at the same concentration. On the contrary, none of the fractions of Achyrocline bogotensis showed antimicrobial potential, after comparing their absorbances with the resulting positive control corresponding to the bacteria under study.
