The present study forms an analysis from the cosmogony that the Wayúu community presents in relation to its territory. Despite the conditions of poverty and inequity, he has an affection and roots to the place, becoming an engine for his subsistence.
Due to its characteristics, Alta Guajira has long periods of drought in which communities are affected by the difficulty in accessing water for consumption, animal husbandry or for a different activity. Simultaneously, capitalist production superposes private interest on the correct distribution of water to the indigenous people.
In this context, based on the conceptual contributions of different authors on rurality and the development of regions, and contributions of some Wayúu members; A base is built on which a model of rural centrality can be designed for the development of the rural territory that provides the necessary conditions to improve their quality of life, make the economic activities to be carried out sustainable and ensure the permanence of their culture
