Introduction: Preeclampsia is one of the most frequent hypertensive disorders associated with pregnancy. In Colombia, it is one of the main causes of preventable maternal death which represents a challenge in the early care of pregnant women, prevention and detection of risk factors associated with the development of this disease. Reviewing the literature, the concept of "change of father” was found as one of the factors associated with preeclampsia, defined as the change of sexual partner and future progenitor of a new pregnancy. Objective: To determine the prevalence of cases of primiparity in multiparous women with preeclampsia in a given population and to characterize various socioeconomic factors that are related to this concept. Methodology : After reviewing existing literature, "change of father”, a descriptive prevalence study was performed in the diagnosis of preeclampsia in an institution in Bogotá D.C. (Olaya’s Polyclinic Center)
Results: From 44 patients interviewed, it was determined that 59% (n = 26) of the patients diagnosed with preeclampsia had “change of father” as the prevailing variable and in addition, other concomitant factors were analyzed. Conclusion: The “change of father” is an important factor to present preeclampsia in pregnancy and when its associated with other risk factors, the presence of the disease was increased.
