The high consumption of goods and services that are negative for the environment, which generates an overexploitation of natural resources and pollution of ecosystems. This is associated, at least to the modern populations by the development, which has led to the generation of a consumerist company, and to the tendencies of excessive and unnecessary consumption of goods and services. As a consequence, the environmental heritage has been uncontrollably degraded, natural resources are being depleted, ecosystems are being altered and pollution levels have increased rapidly.
In relation to this, Bordali (1993), states that before the industrial revolution (1760-1840) there is a harmony between nature and the production processes carried out by the human being. However, with the emergence of technology and industry, as a consequence it begins to be lost, because it begins to intervene drastically nature and to generate alterations on the environment (Bordali A., 1993). In this sense, the environmental problem that the world suffers is a question of development.
With reference to the foregoing, in the case of Colombia, in accordance with the Colombian Environmental Information System (SIAC, 2016), with respect to water consumption and generation of liquid waste, with high water demand registration (35.987 Mm3) and a deterioration of its quality due to a high net load of contaminants potentially discharged to water bodies (3726,517 t / year). With regard to the occasional effects on the soil resource associated with its use, erosion degradation of 40% of the continental surface of Colombia (45,377,070 ha) was recorded as impacts. Why it is necessary to develop research in Colombian territory.
The response to the aforementioned environmental problems is usually addressed from environmental education through a resolutive current, as explained by Sauve "informs or to lead the information on environmental problems, as well as how to help solve problems" (Sauve, 2004) , with this, environmental education has been oriented to prioritize activities to mitigate the problem by promoting actions to clean rivers, taking waste and clean streets, among other things, as evidenced by the projects carried out in schools in Colombia .
Which indicates that environmental education has focused on the symptom of the symptom, for what reason, this research focused on studying the trunk of it: environmental education for the construction of sustainable lifestyles in children. In this way, to respond to the next question, is there an influence of environmental education from the development processes on a human scale in the construction of sustainable lifestyles? For this purpose, the following was taken as a case study: the relationship between human scale development and environmental education for the construction of lifestyles, in primary school students of grades 3 and 4 of the San Juan de Ávila School, located in the city of Bogotá, Colombia.
