This paper presents some educational and participatory strategies for the recovery of the middle part of the Padre Otero basin, through the Participation Action Research (IAP) methodology, implemented with the 802th grade students from District Educational Institution Las Villas of the municipality of Cogua.
To achieve the purpose of recovery, it was necessary to identify the transformations that the basin has suffered since its birth in the forest reserve of param de Gu its mouth in the Bogotá River.
In order to determine the educational strategies that help the recovery of the basin, two moments are worked on: Firstly, a diagnosis of recognition of some of the biotic, abiotic, and anthropic factors which deteriorate the basin. This, was done through periodic trips with the students to identify by observation the characteristics of an aquatic ecosystem. Subsequently, with the application of the Participation Action Research (IAP) methodology, the research teacher and students, generated actions that allowed to mitigate, control, and prevent the deterioration of the basin and at the same time emphasize the aspects that should be strengthened from the area of Natural Sciences and Environmental Education in educational processes.
This methodology enabled critical-reflexive thinking, which contributed to increasing the commitment and development of intervention strategies in the basin; to determine the causes of pollution and propose solutions that help to preserve this water source in the municipality.
