Course objective: To evaluate knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding breast self-examination in women undergraduates, over 18 years of age from the University of Applied and Environmental Sciences, in the second semester of 2018 and the first semester of 2019. Methodology: An observational cross-sectional study was carried out, with a reference population of 2082 and a sample size of 324 women, over 18 years of age, which was calculated using the formula for finite populations with the following parameters: 95% and with a margin of error of 5%. A stratified probabilistic sampling of 9 undergraduate programs was carried out by proportional allocation. Finally, a selection was made for convenience of the women who participated in the study. The information obtained was recorded in a survey of Google Forms and later the data was exported to a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet for the tabulation of the surveys. Results: 358 women older than 18 years participated. In the evaluation of knowledge, attitudes and practices on breast self-examination it was found that 82.12% (294) responded knowing how the test is performed, 99% (354) of the respondents expressed that the practice of self-examination is good and 74.30% (266) of the participants have done the self-examination. Conclusions: The knowledge surveyed is insufficient, although 82.12% of women say they know how to perform self-examination, there is a deficit in the beginning of its performance, time of completion and frequency. The students present appropriate attitudes towards breast self-examination, given that they understand the goodness and benefits of its realization. The practice of breast self-examination is inferior to the knowledge of this, because less than half of the students who perform it use the appropriate techniques, explore all the areas and do it at the right time.
