In orderto establish and ¡dentify the main symptoms and visual manifestations of nutrient deficiencies of Physalis peruviana, an experiment under greenhouse conditions was carried out. An hidroponic technique was used, with vermiculite as Iike substrate and varied Hoagland's solution as nutrients, depending on the element evaluated. 15 treatments were compared: a control, without nutrients and a relative proof consisting in a complete solution; in each of remaining 13 treatments, one of the esential elements, N, P , K, Ca, Mg, S, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, B, Cl and Mo was elimínate. A random design, with four replicatioñs , and a 1 I capacity bag as experimental plot was employed. The variables plant heigth, number of reproductive structures/plant, fresh fruit weight, total soluble solids and pH were evaluated. Also, the biomass distribution in the plant was determined to finish. A photograffic sequence of deficienct symptoms was made, case to case. Plants treated with nitrogen deficient solution were more afected, and showed a similar condition as the control; growth and develonment problems were established, such as a no fruit production. The P and K deficiencies also affected the plant develonment and the final biomass quantity whit symptoms easy to identity under field conditions. Ca deficientcy induced apical fruit rot and lack of quality, disorder in leaf distribution of dry matter and speckled capsules. Boron was the microelement with the most negative influence when absent in the nutritive solution, showing atrophic growth inthe meristematic zones and fruit cracking at the ecuatorial plañe. It was not posible to visually establish clear deficiency symptoms of Mn, Mo and Cl.
