Introduction: Lifestyles are affected by various factors, so it is important to generate tools that allow awareness and promote the health care of the persons. Objective: To determine the lifestyle and physical fitness of students in the sports science program. Method: A descriptive and transversal research was carried out. 168 men and 31 women participated, with an average age of 26 ± 8.5 years, applying the Fantastic questionnaire, manual dynamometry test and evaluation of body composition through digital bioimpedance on the bascule Tanita BC 1500. Results: According to the highest percentage reported by each item evaluated, 63.8% of the total population studied presents healthy habits according to the Fantastic Questionary; 21.1% of the sample presented levels of prehensile strength below the 20th percentile, indicating a risk of suffer chronic noncommunicable diseases; 81.4% of the population are in the "Healthy" category with respect to the BMI; and 60.8% of the sample has a high percentage of fat, being categorized in "Excess weight". Conclusions: When correlating the BMI and the fat percentage, the university population that has high fat mass indexes are 99 men and 22 women, which would be equivalent to have inappropriate life habits; Taking into account the results of the manual dynamometry test, it is observed that 35 men and 7 women are at risk of suffering chronic noncommunicable diseases.
