This investigation arises from the need to identify, differentiate and analyze the nervous signs by the inflammation of the encephalon produced by different infectious agents, among which stand out: viruses, bacteria, parasites and fungi. Which mainly affect the canine and feline species, this work is oriented towards the protocols used by veterinarians, making a differentiation in the clinical approach of the patient who arrives at the clinic with evident signs of involvement of the Central Nervous System. In addition to this the work is divided into a brief explanation of the fundamental aspects to be taken into account on rabies encephalitis, a brief introduction of the other infectious encephalitis divided by etiological agent, with emphasis on how to differentiate them from each other through a clinical algorithm where explains step by step what should be asked in the anamnesis and how to proceed with the patient, identifying the nervous signs as specific signs of each pathology, in addition to postulating the pertinent diagnostic tests to confirm the diagnosis of the different encephalitis of infectious type. Once the clinician has ruled out the other pathologies and suspects that his patient can be positive to rabies, clinical control tables based on the inspection of the patient who is in monitoring will be established. All this in order to make a correct approach to the suspect patient in which the clinician is able to identify the phase of the disease in which it is found, which signs and how often they occur in each species in this way to start studies based in the behavior of patients in the clinic of small animals with respect to the infectious affectations that generate mixed pictures of nervous disorders. At the end of the work, the format of the secretary of health is attached to make the diagnostic report of zoonoses in regular consultation for the sending of samples of patients suspected of rabies. One of the purposes of the work is to make a practical guide for the prevention, surveillance and control of rabies in Colombia, with the objective of providing a tool to guide such actions
