In order to determine the effect of burning on the com- position, the ecological structure and the temporary space dynamic of the soil fauna, a research was carried out in the Páramo Rabanal (Samacá, Boyacá ). During a period of four months two zones were compared: one disturbed by burning and one not disturbed, considering distribution gradients with relation to the slope degree and the vegetation. For the fauna extraction, monoliths were obtained under field conditions to be later proces- sed according Berlesse-Tullgren method. The identifica- tion was made up to the family level and for the data analysis we worked with morphologic types. 145 mor- phologic types were found, distributed within 41 taxo- nomic groups. Of these, 18 were present in both zones, 16 in the zone without altering, with an abundance of 2036 (90%) and 7 in the affected zone, with an abundance of 231 individuáis (10%). The most representative orders for both zones were Acari, Collembola, Díptera and Diplura. Within the trophic composition sapropha- ges occupied the first level, followed by those of diverse regime, zoophages and phytophages. Saprophages di- minished in the burned zone while the organisms of diverse regime increased. Wealth, abundance and diversi- ty in both zones were temporarily higher during médium precipitation’s, mainly in the space of the first soil hori- zons. The disturbance of the Páramo by burning affects the soil fauna in a negative way, generating substantial changes in its functions, composition and structure.
