In Colombia, as in many other developing countries, cancer is a growing public health problem within noncommunicable diseases, which requires an intersectoral response. Cancer was the second cause of death during the 2007-2013 period; with approximately 33,538 annual deaths, it represented 17.1% of the country's mortality. Patients with cancer are exposed to different types of treatments that involve the use of drugs of various pharmacological groups and the combination of these, likewise they manifest notorious and very annoying symptoms during therapy, some of which may occur in a mild way. and moderate; However, the intensity of others may compromise the patient's condition, as many require urgent treatment and even hospitalization. For this reason the administration of these must be rational to reduce complications and avoid problems caused by medications. The purpose of this work is to prepare a proposal for the implementation of an Active Pharmacovigilance program in an outpatient chemotherapy service in a fourth level oncology hospital in Bogota DC, Colombia, promoting the intervention of the pharmaceutical chemist in the early detection of reactions. adverse to new drugs for the treatment of cancer and antineoplastic agents through strategies and constant monitoring, aimed at providing information, experience, understanding, preparation of safety profiles, adherence to treatment, reports of efficacy and side effects of these drugs (Pardo, De vries, Buitrago, Gamboa, & Instituto Nacional de Cancerología, 2017); (Mendo, Cala, Leyva, Álvarez, & Traba, 2017).
