The main objective of this research is to demonstrate that the incorporation of strength training as an auxiliary capacity applied to an athletics athlete who practices the 5000 meter (m.) Test has a significant improvement over her athletic performance. Athletics previously considered that those who had to train the force were the sprinters, pitchers and jumpers, but not in long runners, current studies have shown that the application of force methods on the performance of the athlete, present positive effects such as the greater recruitment of muscle fibers causing greater coordination speed both intra and intermuscular to maintain the stride frequency, it is also shown that the work of the force is a preventive means of muscular injuries, having as priority the work of the Core or middle zone, since, if there is an inefficiency in the intermuscular coordination of the middle zone, a bad position of the trunk or lack of pelvic stability, causes a bad execution in the technique and reduction of career efficiency. It was found that, when applying strength training with light weights and quick actions in the athlete, her performance improved by 9.47% compared to the average of the marks obtained in previous years, reducing her time by 2.07 minutes. It is clear that in the years 2016 and early 2017 did not involve strength training.
