The main functions of the urinary system are the formation, storage, filtration and elimination of urine (1). Urolithiasis affects the urinary system in males and females, being more common in males due to its anatomical characteristics, allowing various causes that produce inflammation and obstruction of the urinary tract to arise (2). The nature of the urinary calculus changes depending on the urinary pH and some minerals that, when adequate physicochemical conditions are present, can originate these solid aggregates (2). The treatment depends on the presentation and characteristics of urolithiasis, since there are numerous crystalline substances that can be detected, for its elimination may be necessary therapeutic or dietary handling, laser lithotripsy, endoscopy or surgical removal of urinary calculus (3).
